December 8 - Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Ave Maria

Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the Immaculate Conception of our Blessed Mother, Mary. It is church teaching and the belief of Catholics that Mary is the Mother of God, and Theotokos, the God bearer, and as such, by an act of Divine Grace was herself conceived without original sin. It is believed by Catholics that God chose to use Mary's womb as a holy place free from sin for his Son to be nourished and to grow prior to His birth that we will celebrate in a few short weeks time.

In Her Honour, and in my personal love and dedication to Her Immaculate Heart, I offer the Ave Maria, as sung by Sarah Brightman in a live performance in Vienna.

I thoroughly enjoyed all four postings celebrating the Holy Mother. Closing it up with Sarah Brightman singing Ave Maria is a stroke of spiritual genius, Michael. A truly wonderful celebration of the Immaculate Conception.
