Sunday Morning Praises - Sixth Sunday of Easter 2010

Mother's Day

Today, I praise God for teaching me that the Mother that I had here on earth was the best mother in the world for me, that she cared for me, and guided me to the best of her abilities, and prayed for me.  I praise God that I was able to be present when she passed away to return her gift of prayer for me to her at that moment.

I praise God for My Dear Wife, the wonderful mother who is my marriage partner, lover and best friend, the mother of her own three children, and a step mother to my three as well.  She has the wisdom of a woman, and that is very complementary, not competitive, with own masculinity.

I praise God for My Dear Sister, a wife and mother of three herself, and a giver of self to those in need, my best female friend in the world, except for MDW (of course).

I praise God today for all mothers, those particularly who have embraced motherhood, and treated it as the most important vocation on the planet.

And Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in your love for all mothers, those who have embraced motherhood, those who have not done so because of their own woundedness, and also those mothers who have allowed their children to be taken from their wombs in abortion, either medically induced, or by the use of abortifacient birth control means.

Time to Praise the Lord - Sunday May 2, 2010

Today, I praise the Lord for the partner in life he has given me.  Living with My Dear Wife, while being committed to God's Will in our lives has been a treat.  Journeying with her day by day, is like pealing back the layers of an onion.  Sometimes there are tears, like an onion, though they are usually tears of joy, and like an onion there is sweetness as you approach the center.

I praise God for prayer partners, those I meet in the morning for the Divine Office, those I know from meeting over the years, and those I encounter through the internet, and have never met yet.  Knowing that we are all one in Christ makes time and space disappear.

I praise God today for giving me the simplest prayer I know "Sacred Heart of Jesus I trust in your love for _____."  This simple prayer allows me to put words to trusting that God is in charge, and that he has a plan for every difficult situation and person in our lives.

I praise God that My Dear Wife and I have been able to get outside to our gazebo in the warm sunshine the other day, enjoy a glass of wine together, have some tasty treats, and enjoy the birds and blooms as they show themselves this spring.

But, above all, I praise and thank Him because He is Him and I am not.

Praise The Lord - 4th Sunday of Easter 2010

Sunday Praises

There is always so much to praise Our wonderful Lord for, if we look at His world with open eyes, and more importantly open hearts.

I praise God this week for the 2 days that My Dear Wife and I spent in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan earlier this week, and I also praise God for the 3 days that MDW spent with friends on a quilting shop hop back in the UP until this evening.  New quilting projects that I can assist her with, and I have some of my own that I am working on as well, and I am enjoying it immensely.

I Praise God for the opportunity I have to pray together with my prayer partners in the weekday mornings, and for the opportunity we had to share breakfast on Friday with another deacon friend of ours.

I am especially thankful to have spent a couple of hours with a beautiful brother, who used to work for me when I owned my own business many years ago, who has been having a fine career in information technology. Above all he has had a wonderful journey of faith that has brought him from Sri Lanka to Kenya, to Canada, where he has married, and raised  two wonderful daughters, and he shared some of that with me this week.

And as well, I praise God for the opportunity that I have through this blog to be uplifted by the journeys of other faith filled Christians I encounter through this writing and reading.  I am inspired by Chocolate Hearts, Rubber Hitting the Road, Online Catholics, Social Conservatives, Blue Waves, prayerful deacons, and others who speak the truth that is in all of our hearts with love and authority.

I praise God for Father Sam Johnston, who though diagnosed with cancer of the colon, will submit to the will of His Saviour, and whatever happens, God will be glorified by his faith in his and our Saviour.

Here, on earth, I praise God for the partner I have in life, whose smile I awake to each morning, and whose beautiful heart enriches my days.

Sacred Heart of Jesus I trust in your love for Father Sam and all those who come to mind this week, who have shared a moment or an hour in my thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.  You are the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, and there is none like You.

Praising The Lord - 3rd Sunday of Easter

We Have Much to Praise Him for and to be Thankful for

I thank God for the persecution of the Roman Catholic Church that is going on right now.  Though it has almost totally been blown out of proportion, it will bring good to the Church.

Those whose faith is too weak will either be strengthened, if they get their own spiritual pride out of the way, or they will leave.  One approach is sad, but both will make the Church stronger.  This is the seed scattered on rocky ground.  The seedlings will die off or be blown onto better soil.

I thank God that those inside the Church who are doing evil things, or who have done evil things for which they have not repented will be rooted out, and be punished accordingly, removing their menace from our midst.  This is seed that was scattered among the thorns.

I praise and thank God that those outside the Church who have been persecuting her needlessly, with malice of fore thought, will be shown for their bigotry, exposing them for all to see, thereby discounting their lies and rhetoric.  This is seed that has been scattered on the side of the pathway.

But, above all I thank and praise God for the seed scattered on good soil, the many faithful Catholic Christians and other faithful Christians who have heard the Easter message of God's abiding love for us all, taken it into their hearts, and will go foward bringing that Good News to our brothers and sisters around the world.

I pray with hope that He will guide me along His pathways so that I too might be seed that is sown on the good ground, and may follow Him all the rest of the days of my life faithfully.

Above all, I praise Him that we are able to celebrate the saving work of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and that our trials will strengthen us.

Praise - Palm Sunday 2010

Praising and Thanking God

This week in the midst of sex abuse scandal murmuring and US health care reform craziness, I realized that God is on His throne, that he knew all that would happen and that it fits into His plan perfectly. I mean, I knew it, but now I KNOW it.  Well, maybe I Know it.

He is worthy to be praised.

I praise God that this week I fell even more in love with my dear Wife.  She is awesome, just like the One in whose image she is created.  How cool is that!!!

I am thankful to Our Great and Mighty God for the first signs of Spring starting to appear.  We have a couple of little crocus in our front garden, and the day lilies are pushing up ever so slightly out of the ground.  The robin has arrived and is strutting his stuff, while the male cardinal to starting his spring song, looking for a mate.  The junco is cleaning up the seeds on the ground that the winter birds have scattered.  Signs of New Life.

And today I praise God for this coming week, when we celebrate Jesus and his horrible death on the Cross for us, and then rejoice once again as He is risen.

Yes, Dear Lord it is a good week to be alive, and above all to be alive in You.

Praise Your Mighty and Holy Name.
